Jack Cavener-Sumner
Chief Office Cat In Charge of Napping and Distraction
Jack started out life as a feral farm kitten. I “rescued” him, took him home, gave him a safe, comfy place to live, and he showed his gratitude by hiding from me and running to the farthest corners, because humans were scary. He clearly did not appreciate being “rescued”. For months, I called him Ungrateful Beast, UB for short.
It took a long time for him to trust. Once he did, I became his favorite human. My lap is now his favorite spot, but he is content to lounge in his bed by the window in my office while I work. He watches a lot of “bird TV” out the window. He also stands on his hind legs and begs to be picked up and put over my shoulder to be carried around. Changed his name to Jack.
Here at the office, he’s a bit of a slacker. Mostly naps and tries to distract me from working. Probably not going to get a promotion any time soon, but he likely won’t care. He is content now.
